Capano Management has spent more than 75 years building a diversified portfolio: multi-family residences across Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Florida, commercial retail and office space, multiple restaurants, and active construction projects. Running that range of work under one enterprise workforce system is straightforward until you reach the restaurant side of the business, where tipped income, multi-location staff, and constant job transfers look nothing like a standard office role.
With 300+ employees across its restaurants, Capano needed punches, declared tips, and job transfers captured accurately and sent automatically into the same UKG Pro WFM (Formerly UKG Dimensions) system running the rest of the company, without asking restaurant staff to work around software that wasn’t built for their kind of shift.
Capano Management extended its UKG Pro WFM system with CloudApper AI, deployed on off-the-shelf tablets across 19 stations in its restaurants. Employees confirm their identity with a face-matching check, are prompted to declare their tip amount the moment they punch out, and can submit a transfer punch when they’re covering a different role or location, all from the same simple tablet screen.
This is where the specific task appears: tip recordkeeping, job transfers, and punch capture. CloudApper AI did not replace UKG Pro WFM or ask Capano Management to stand up a separate system for its restaurant teams. It closed the gap around UKG, so a business spanning real estate, construction, and hospitality could run every part of its workforce on the same system of record.
The impact reached beyond the restaurant floor. Capano Management gave its restaurant teams a fast, simple way to punch in, declare tips, and move between roles, gave its back office consistent, IRS-ready tip records without manual reconciliation, and gave the company as a whole one enterprise system flexible enough to run real estate, construction, and hospitality alike instead of three.
