How Applegreen Made Its Enterprise System Fit the Labor Rule Complexity of Its 620-Site Forecourt Network and 15,000+ Employee Workforce
Applegreen grew from one Dublin service station into a 620-site forecourt and convenience retail network across Ireland, the UK, and the US. The challenge
When labor compliance had to scale across hundreds of forecourt sites
Applegreen’s growth created a workforce challenge that was bigger than time tracking alone. With 15,000+ employees across 620 forecourt sites, convenience stores, restaurants, and shopping centers, the company needed a consistent way to help teams follow labor policies and mandatory break requirements across every location.
Labor rules had to work consistently across a large retail footprint
Applegreen needed a dependable way to support mandatory breaks and workforce policies across its 620-site forecourt network, without depending on after-the-fact review or site-by-site intervention.
Frontline teams needed guidance at the moment of work
Managers and employees needed clear prompts inside the workday, not manual follow-up that created administrative work and compliance exposure later.
Manual processes created unnecessary risk
The company wanted stronger security and accuracy around employee check-ins while reducing the cost and effort created by manual workforce processes.
Scale required new capability without system disruption
Applegreen needed to close the gap on top of its existing workforce system, without waiting on a long replacement project or complicated development work.
The solution
A UKG-connected process layer that brought labor guidance closer to frontline work
Applegreen used CloudApper AI to extend UKG Pro WFM (Formerly UKG Dimensions) with capabilities that made its enterprise workforce system fit frontline realities. The platform introduced tablet-based employee self-service, AI assistance, touchless Face ID check-in, break alerts, and workforce guidance that helped employees follow the right process at the right moment.
